Comparativos y superlativos en inglés: reglas, ejemplos y ejercicios
Usa un comparativo para comparar dos cosas: My car is faster than yours. Usa un superlativo para decir cuál destaca dentro de un grupo: This is the fastest car. La clave es elegir entre -er/-est y more/most sin mezclarlos.
- small → smaller → smallest
- interesting → more interesting → most interesting
- Comparativo: normalmente lleva than.
- Superlativo: normalmente lleva the.
Comparativo vs. superlativo
| Para qué | Forma | Ejemplo |
|---|---|---|
| Comparar dos | comparativo + than | London is bigger than Bristol. |
| Destacar uno de un grupo | the + superlativo | It is the biggest city. |
| Base | Comparativo | Superlativo |
|---|---|---|
| small | smaller | smallest |
| fast | faster | fastest |
| old | older | oldest |
Adjetivos largos: more y most
Con la mayoría de adjetivos de dos o más sílabas usa more y most: more expensive, the most expensive; more interesting, the most interesting.
Irregulares que conviene memorizar
| Base | Comparativo | Superlativo |
|---|---|---|
| good | better | best |
| bad | worse | worst |
| far | farther / further | farthest / furthest |
Than, the y as ... as
En comparaciones de diferencia usa than: English is easier than I expected. En superlativos normalmente necesitas the: She is the most patient person here. Para igualdad usa as + adjetivo + as: This bag is as heavy as that one.
Elige una sola forma: the funniest o the most interesting.
Ejercicio gradual
Completa cada frase con la forma correcta.
1. My room is ___ than yours. (small)
2. This is the ___ book in the class. (interesting)
3. Today is ___ than yesterday. (hot)
4. Her answer was ___ than mine. (good)
