Presente continuo en inglés
El presente continuo describe algo que está pasando ahora o una situación temporal. Se forma con am/is/are + verbo-ing: I am studying now. Para una rutina, usa el presente simple: I study every day.
Respuesta rápida
- Ahora: She is cooking.
- Negativo: They aren't working.
- Pregunta: Are you listening?
- Rutina = presente simple; en progreso = presente continuo.
La estructura
| Afirmativa | Negativa | Pregunta |
|---|---|---|
| I am reading. | I am not reading. | Am I reading? |
| She is working. | She isn't working. | Is she working? |
| They are waiting. | They aren't waiting. | Are they waiting? |
El auxiliar es el verbo to be; el verbo principal siempre termina en -ing.
Cuándo se usa
Úsalo para acciones en este momento (I'm talking to you) o situaciones temporales (She's staying with her aunt this week). No lo uses para hábitos: I work on Mondays, no I am working on Mondays, salvo que hables de una situación temporal.
Cómo añadir -ing
- Normal: work → working.
- Termina en -e: make → making.
- Consonante-vocal-consonante corta: sit → sitting.
- -ie cambia a -y: lie → lying.
